Organic Edge

Your family

Organic Edge draws a soft, moving band along the edges of your desktop, behind your windows and widgets. It can move with the music, and it ignores the mouse.

  1. Open SettingsWidgets, then pick Screen edges.
  2. Turn on Enable Organic edge.

You don’t need the Visualizer widget. The band listens to the audio on its own.

Each preset changes only its own part, so your other choices stay:

  • Compositions change where the band sits, such as Horizon, Corner Drift or Full Frame.
  • Material presets change the body, outline and light, such as Soft Silk, Aurora Thread or Liquid Tide.
  • Response presets change how it reacts to music: Velvet, Balanced, Rhythmic, Percussive and Fine detail.
  • Scenes set all of the above together, such as Album Tide or Afterglow Frame.

Presets and Reset Organic edge keep your displays and the on or off switch.

  • Displays appears with more than one screen. The reset button in that section puts the band back on all screens.
  • Active sides picks the edges. Join connected edges makes neighbouring sides one continuous frame. Keep edges separate keeps each side independent.
  • Edge length and Position along edge set how much of each side it covers, and where.
  • Field depth sets how far in it reaches. Reach stops at 45% of the screen, so the middle stays clear. The four reach sliders set each side on its own.
  • Screen inset moves the band in from the edge. Screen corner radius matches your screen’s rounded corners. Corner handoff sets how strongly neighbouring sides merge.
  • Respect bars and dock keeps the band clear of your panels.
  • Travel direction runs the motion clockwise or counter-clockwise.
  • Material picks the body: Silk, Aurora, Contour or Liquid.
  • Palette source picks the colours. Adaptive follows album art while a cover is playing, and the wallpaper otherwise. Custom shows three colour pickers.
  • Color movement sets how colour travels: Flow, Spectrum, Beat or Static.
  • Light adds a treatment, from Clean to Peak afterglow.
  • Overall opacity, Body opacity, Crest brightness and Glow intensity set how bright and solid it is. Glow can grow without filling the whole edge.
  • React to audio turns the music response on or off.
  • Bass moves the body and reach, treble lights the crest, and sudden hits give short bursts.
  • When silent picks what happens when the sound stops. Ambient keeps a slow drift, Still when silent freezes the last frame, and Hide when silent fades it out.
  • Audio sensitivity, Beat pulse, Attack speed and Release speed tune how strongly and how quickly it responds.
  • It follows SettingsWidgetsPower Saving. When that pauses desktop widgets on a screen, the band stops too. It also stops during GameMode and on the lock screen.
  • It follows the live wallpaper’s pause rule. Behind a fullscreen or covered screen, the band holds still when that rule says the wallpaper should. Set the rule in iRiS SettingsDesktopLive wallpapersPause: Never, Behind fullscreen or When covered. The default is When covered. Material has no control for it.

Music on the edges, under Now Playing › Frame music, lets the music drive this band and the iRiS frame.
