Audio and media

Control volume, choose what drives the visualisers, and see what is playing.

Volume

• Volume up and down and Mute use the Volume keys. Mic mute uses the Mic Mute key. They work on the lock screen too.
• The on-screen display shows volume and brightness changes.
• Per-app volume: the right sidebar (Material) has a volume mixer. Waffle’s volume control has a Volume mixer button and a list of the apps making sound. iRiS lists them in iRiS Settings›Sound & Feedback›Apps playing.

Visualiser sources

Settings›Quick›Filters›Visualizer sources lists the apps playing audio right now. Turn a filter on to keep that app out of the visualisers. With no filter on, the visualiser follows the player you are using.

Organic is one of the visualiser styles under Settings›Bar, next to Bars and Wave.

EasyEffects

A toggle in the right sidebar turns EasyEffects on or off.

Settings›Modules›Optional›EasyEffects Equalizer adds a 10-band equaliser. It needs EasyEffects running.

Media players

Any player that speaks MPRIS shows up, such as Spotify, Firefox, mpv or VLC. Controls appear in the bar, the media controls popup and the right sidebar (Material), and in the media pane of the action centre (Waffle). In iRiS they play on the Island, and iRiS Settings›Now Playing sets how.

When several players are running, iNiR shows:

1. the player you picked yourself, if it is still running,
2. otherwise the first player that is playing,
3. otherwise the one you used last.

YT Music

The left sidebar (Material) has a YT Music player. It plays through mpv and fetches its streams with yt-dlp, so install both.

If YT Music plays in the sidebar and a browser tab shows it too, the media controls show one player, not two.

Music recognition

Music recognition uses SongRec. Its quick toggle listens to what plays from your speakers and names the song. Settings›Shortcuts lists the media keys.
